Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club

Judge's Lists Selection Criteria

The lists shall be review annually, any additions to be obtained from a list consisting of names of persons meeting the following criteria:

For inclusion on the A or B List, persons must be proposed and seconded by Members of the Club and voted for in an annual postal ballot of Members.  Nominees obtaining votes on at least 25% of the ballot papers returned shall be added to the appropriate list.   All applications will be submitted to the Judges Sub-Committee.

The Committee is empowered to remove any names from the lists if, in their opinion, it is no longer desirable that the names should be included.  No support will be offered at any Show unless the judge appointed is on the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog club A or B Judging List.

A1 List

Persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in Shetland Sheepdogs and have the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.

A2 List

Persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 list and have the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.

 

A3 List (Breed Specialists)

Persons who meet the following requirements:

1.  
 A minimum of 7 years judging experience in Shetland Sheepdogs and have the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.
2 To have judged a minimum of 1 Shetland Sheepdog Club Show.
3 To have judged a minimum of 100 classes in Shetland Sheepdogs.
4 To have judged a minimum of 400 dogs in Shetland Sheepdogs.
5 To have attended Shetland Sheepdog judging seminars on all aspects of the breed.
6 To have stewarded for a minimum period of 3 years and at 12 Shows
7 To have been on the B List for at least 2 years except where the person has been approved to give Challenge Certificates in the Breed.
8 To have attended a seminar given by a kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
9. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
10. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. 
11. To have bred 3 Shetland Sheepdogs who have been awarded Kennel Club Stud Book numbers and/or owned 3 Shetland Sheepdogs who have obtained a Kennel Club Stud Book number whilst in their registered ownership.  (Save in exceptional circumstances).

 

A3 List (Non Specialists)

Persons who meet the following requirements:

1. As 1. to 10. A3 List (Breed Specialists).
11. To have bred 3 Shetland Sheepdogs who have been awarded Kennel Club Stud Book numbers and/or owned 3 dogs who have obtained a kennel Club Stud Book number whilst in their registered ownership. (Save in exceptional circumstances).
12. To have awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed.

 

B List (Breed Specialists)

Persons who meet the following requirements:

1. To have a minimum of five years judging experience in Shetland Sheepdogs and the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.
2. To have judged a minimum of 30 Shetland Sheepdog classes at Open Shows or championship Shows without Challenge Certificates.
3 To have judged 125 Shetland Sheepdogs

 

B List (Non Specialists)

Persons who meet the following requirements:

1. To have a minimum of five years judging experience in any 1 breed and the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.
2. To have judged a minimum of 30 Shetland Sheepdog classes at Open shows or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates.  (Save in exceptional circumstances).
3. To have judged 125 Shetland Sheepdogs.

 

C List

Persons who meet the following requirements:

1. To have shown an interest in Shetland Sheepdogs and have the support of the Yorkshire Shetland Sheepdog Club.
2. To have judged Shetland Sheepdog classes at Limited and Open shows but do not yet qualify for the B List.
3. In order to progress to the other Lists persons listed on the C List will need to advise the Club Secretary that they now meet the criteria (and complete the appropriate form).  Their application will then be submitted to the Judges Sub-committee as for any other applicant.  No persons can progress to the A or B List without the approval of members in a postal ballot as detailed above.
